CHKMAIL:
This utility is designed to be used during your LAN logon sequence to
check for incoming internal mail.
Since you will need to be logged on to the LAN to access the central
mailbox files you should insert a call to the chkmail program after
the point in your login sequence that this access has been
established.
Typically it is anticipated that your LAN administrator can modify the
standard login script for all users to include this mail check. This
means that the chkmail program can reside on the LAN server and be
invoked from there.
The program should be invoked with a parameter pointing to the
location of your sm-misc.cfg file. If you have selected the default
installation this will mean the following command >>> chkmail c:\mail
The program will sound a note and display a message if mail is
waiting. You can then invoke See Mail itself to retrieve the mail.
SCRDEF:
This program allows you to create or alter the screens used by the See
Mail rolodex module. The SCRDEF.HLP file explains more of the details
of this. Also see the rolodex section of the user guide.
MBXRESET:
This program can be used to reset the mailbox file (mail.mbx) if it
becomes corrupted and you cannot access it from See Mail.
However this program does not re-build any of the data, it merely
re-initialises the database.
It is recommended that you backup the mail.mbx file, and any
associated mail files at least once a day. In the event of a system
crash you can then return to a point where the users can then re-send
any mail from the that moment on.
If mbxreset fails, and you have no back-up then the only way to recove
is to delete the mail.mbx file, re-create it, and then get each user
to use the See Mail Setup option to blank out their old user-id
number, and then re-enter themselves into the mail system.
MBXREMOV:
This is only required if you need to completely delete a user from the
mail system. Normally you can merely re-assign the user-id to someone
else by using the mailbox modify user details option to change their
name and so on to the new user.
XLABEL:
This utility allows you to print mailing labels for addresses that you
have in your rolodex. If your rolodex files are not in the same
directory as the XLABEL program you must enter a parameter when
starting the XLABEL program to indicate the location of the rolodex
you wish to access.
